"The wealthy, not only by private fraud but also by common laws, do every day pluck and snatch away from the people some part of their daily living. Therefore, when I consider and weigh in my mind these commonwealths which nowadays do flourish, I perceive nothing but a certain conspiracy of rich men in procuring their own commodities under the name and authority of the commonwealth.

They invent and devise all means and crafts, first how to keep safely without fear of losing that which they have unjustly gathered together, and next how to hire and abuse the work and labor of the people for as little money and effort as possible."

Liked your post, Coldie, on the previuos thread about Rahm. Things will get pretty bad for union workers when he takes power.

Big fight coming for us ahead Lefty despite the fact that our pension benefits are ratified in the state constitution. Never forget that the rules don't apply to our class enemies.

"Join the NRA!"-Anon

Not really sure how that will help. Have you forgotten that the State retains the monopoly on violence? If Egyptians and Tunisians have taught us anything it is the efficacy of non-violent protest and committed non-cooperation with illegitimate institutions.

Is that rahm??

Coldtype said...

It should be.

I think that is Jody Weis in his escape costume.

Coldtype said...

He escaped with a lot of loot though which of course doesn't include his FBI pension.

Are you supporting your brother workers in Springfield to restore the Second Amendment to Illinois??

Coldtype said...

I'm working to support fellow workers in Wisconsin to defeat the assault upon rights earned over a century of labor struggle. How about you?

Give it up, Coldie, on trying to talk to these conservatives.

These guys want all the benefits of protected workers right, historically made through the efforts of mostly leftists, yet slam the unions at the same time.

So true Lefty. The winning formula for the ruling class has been to convince people without a pot to piss in to vote and agitate against their own best interest. The Tea Party--a wholly owned and co-opted creature of the Koch brothers and their fellow plutocrats--is a perfect example of this.

Aaaah, the lies of the Obama administration continue. The bombing of Libya is just a smokescreen. He is as phony as Bush I or Bush II.

If you want true accounts of what goes on there watch live reports on Al Jazeera.

My only advice on "financial matters" would be equal distibution of the wealth. That being said, on this May Day, "Workers of the World Unite!!"

I saw where happy protesters, I guess we can call them that, showed up outside the residence of former president Bush.

Mmmm, the Bush family who flew out the family of bin Laden the day after 9/11? If that had been a Democratic president the conservatives would still be talking about it.

The only things we should now watch are 1) will we leave the Af/Pak region now that the ostensible reason we've occupied it is no more and 2) will our foreign policies that served as the motivation for the 9/11 attacks be modified in any significant way?

My money is on hell no. So it's critical that we understand that the death of OBL means essentially nothing. Our wars without end and our rapidly evolving national security state will continue unabated until we are exhausted.

"(Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Johnson, June 12, 1823, The Complete Jefferson, p. 322)

"The Constitution shall never be construed....to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms"

(Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87)

"No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."

(Thomas Jefferson, Proposal Virginia Constitution, 1 T. Jefferson Papers, 334,[C.J.Boyd, Ed., 1950])

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."

(James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244)

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

(Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-8)

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good"

(George Washington)

Now please, stop talking about what the founding fathers "would have wanted" when they went to painstaking detail to make sure no one could possibly misunderstand them when they told you exactly what they wanted.
