"The wealthy, not only by private fraud but also by common laws, do every day pluck and snatch away from the people some part of their daily living. Therefore, when I consider and weigh in my mind these commonwealths which nowadays do flourish, I perceive nothing but a certain conspiracy of rich men in procuring their own commodities under the name and authority of the commonwealth.

They invent and devise all means and crafts, first how to keep safely without fear of losing that which they have unjustly gathered together, and next how to hire and abuse the work and labor of the people for as little money and effort as possible."

Great article, Coldie. Especially the part where conservatives scream "socialism" at those who do not cater to the rich.

Just curious…

I put your comments up on the other blog I write for occasionally why did you not engage them?
You would get a lot more mileage out of your comments there than you would on my little blog.

(very opinionated group)

You will have fun!

My point was not to show the all white Chicago as a good thing, but to show how society of that era excluded others. Alas, old Shave-y, has turned things around.

A Jackson Park which includes persons of all races together would be a grand thing.
