"The wealthy, not only by private fraud but also by common laws, do every day pluck and snatch away from the people some part of their daily living. Therefore, when I consider and weigh in my mind these commonwealths which nowadays do flourish, I perceive nothing but a certain conspiracy of rich men in procuring their own commodities under the name and authority of the commonwealth.
They invent and devise all means and crafts, first how to keep safely without fear of losing that which they have unjustly gathered together, and next how to hire and abuse the work and labor of the people for as little money and effort as possible."

Reflections on the Oprah-Obama Hustle
Bruce Dixon of Black Agenda Report had a few interesting observations two weeks ago about the Oprah Winfrey/Barack Obama celebrity lovefest that I neglected to post at the time. My error. So, two weeks late but still relevant...please take it away Mr. Dixon.

I detest the use of celebrities by presidential candidates. They seem to be telling us we are not smart enough to make our own decisions.
Oprah has made her millions (actually billions) by appealing to the middle class white female. Will be interesting to see if it carries over in the election booth here in Illinois.
The only candidate, I know that has pledged an all-out pullout in a quick manner is Dennis Kucinich. He of course has been largerly ignored by the main media.
Well Coldie have a merry Christmas (if you celebrate) and if don't, have a Happy Holiday.
