November 7th, 2006 may be the day future historians point to when marking the death of the American Republic. Sound improbable? Then perhaps you haven't been paying attention. The mid-term elections will be held on that fateful day and I hope you'll take them seriously.
The Bush administration will either get a mandate to radically alter the DNA of our republic, or a clear message from the American people that his "unitary executive " theory, which destroys the separation of powers that defends our liberty, and a foreign policy that threatens World War III, cannot be reconciled with their values or interests.
Read this carefully and worry.

I certainly will Lefty. While I realize that SCC consists of intellectual lightweights, its fun to poke holes in some of the gibberish they produce.
One of my goals for this blog is to provide a space for alternative
points of view that get no exposure at Second Ciy Cop.
I'm convinced that the Bush ultra-nationalist pose perhaps the greatest threat to this Republic since the Civil War. What I find incredibly frustrating is that most of our co-workers--to say nothing of the general public--are oblivious to what lays before them in plain sight. Bush has all but declared that the Constitutional restrictions on the power of the Excecutive do not apply to him; that he may unilaterally determine what legislation passed by congress--and thus the law of the land--that he will submit to. Our republic and an emperor cannot co-exist.
I promise to keep plugging away. Stay safe.
I just recently discovered your blogsite. How long has your site been in operation? IT'S LIKE AN OASIS IN THE DESERT! I get so tired of those right wing mental midgets on SCC and Rue St.Michael. It's nice to know that not everyone has their collective heads up their conservative a**$#$. I consider myself more a centrist than a liberal but reading your blogsite is like a breath of fresh air.
I've had it going for just a few weeks and I plan to stick around awhile.
